Project Category: Japanese Restaurant
Builder: Client / Tradesman Homes
Completion Date: August 2015
Tokyo Jacks is a new Japanese restaurant which has really changed the dining scene of Bunbury.
Merge kept the look simple and streamlined – our take on a modern Japanese interior – working with plenty of light timber, black accents, clean lines and simple geometric shapes. The open kitchen allows diners to engage with the amazing chefs which adds to the whole dining experience.
The existing tenancy was a featureless and uninspiring space – until Merge gave it a closer inspection. The low acoustic tile ceiling was removed to reveal an absolutely stunning original pressed tin ceiling which has been beautifully restored to its former glory. An original skylight was also restored to allow natural light into the space and add a great design feature.
The façade was completely upgraded with bi-fold windows which help to open up the restaurant interior to the street and draw diners in. Cool room storage and toilet facilities were added at the rear of the tenancy to comply with local Council requirements.
