The Pickersgill Street Residence has a sleek monochromatic and minimalist front elevation, designed to flow with the natural slope of the site. This graduated design creates 5 different levels within the 396m² house and helps to zone it’s various uses – home-based business, garage & storage, Children’s Wing, Master Suite Wing and Open Plan & Balcony area.
The floor plan is elongated to the rear to ensure the upper floor open-plan area and alfresco/balcony cleared the neighbouring West property and maximised the ocean views. The alfresco area is seamlessly connected to the open-plan kitchen zone so it flows as one large space. It can be totally sealed off in inclement weather, which means this pride of place area overlooking the stunning ocean is able to be enjoyed all-year round. Hebel aerated concrete floor and wall panels ensure the home is heavily insulated both thermally and acoustically.
The client loves sleek, minimalist & monochromatic interior spaces so it was a challenge to make this design aesthetic work for a young family home. The clean and simple white walls act as a backdrop to the softly patterned grey floor tiles, a statement marble island bench top and accents of matte black including a stunning Oblica floating fireplace. The slick, contemporary interior was softened with full height walls of sheer curtains, carefully selected furniture & soft furnishings and warmed up with hints of brass and dark textured timber. To create a practical design solution for this young family, built-in custom joinery was used extensively throughout to provide storage solutions and enable the space to remain clean and uncluttered. This results in a stunning space that the clients are absolutely in love with.
